FiberWork specializes in the development of innovative cost-effective fiber optic solutions

16/2/2004

FiberWork shows at OFC-2004 its innovative products and services, such as the OSPA and FWL Systems as well as fiber network diagnostic services.

February 16, 2004 Campinas-Brazil and San Jose-CA - FiberWork Optical Communications is specialized in developing innovative cost-effective fiber optic solutions. Its specialized PMD (Polarization Mode Dispersion) diagnostics have helped the main South-American carriers in deploying their high capacity DWDM fiber networks. FiberWork's "OSPA Optical S-Parameter Analyzer", "FWL Family of Optical Telephony Systems" and "Technical Trainings & Consulting for decision making professionals" are also unique FiberWork solutions.

Fiber network diagnostic is a specialized and innovative service created by FiberWork that goes much further than just field measurements. It comprises detailed field data acquisition and their in-depth analysis by expert PhD professionals. The outcome is a set of recommendations intended towards network design optimization, capex and opex savings, better exploitation of fiber transmission capacities and future-proofing the network. Such information provide an important support for decision makers before network design and upgrade. These diagnostics are a very powerful tool for dark fiber valuation, fiber leasing, swap and other frequent telecom market negotiations. It helps both sides of the table to feel more confident, avoiding misleading and promoting fair negotiations.

The OSPA is an original award winning platform for full, fast, precise and cost-effective characterization of passive optical devices during R&D and production. The equipment is able to characterize optical devices such as Fiber Bragg Gratings, interference filters, AWG´s, dispersion compensators, optical multiplexers and demultiplexers, short lengths of fiber etc.. It is intended towards time and cost savings during device development, production and qualification stages. The OSPA is been released at OFC-2004.

The FWL Family is a group of optical voice transmission systems that uses advanced digital communication techniques for voice communication through a single fiber. It allows communication between company's office located up to 180 km apart, and the communication between field technician and engineers during installation, testing and maintenance of fiber networks. This equipment improves service quality and fast return its investment, through reducing operational costs with alternative solutions, such as mobile phone use and leasing of private telecom lines etc..

FiberWork also offers consulting, specification and optimization of optical networks as well as technological training courses. Its courses are addressed towards decision-making professionals from the telecom carrier, solution provider and equipment manufacturer sectors. They are very helpful tools before the making of decisions related to fiber network investments. During 2004, the following courses will be offered in San Jose, CA: "DWDM & CWDM: Fundamentals, Technology, New Test Needs, MARKET and TRENDS", "Optical Networks: Planning, Design and Trends" and "Optical Communication Technology: Principles, Applications and Current Issues".

Acting in the optical fiber communications' market since 1997, FiberWork already has a large group of customers such as Eletronet (AES), AT&T Latin America, MetroRED, Impsat, Nortel Networks, Lucent Technologies etc.. FiberWork will be exhibiting at the Optical Fiber Conference and Exhibition (OFC-2004), the most important fair of the optical communication segment, which takes place from February 22 to 27, 2004, at the Los Angeles Convention Center (FiberWork's booth is #4343 - West Hall).
