The OptiMaster is an optical network remote management system for 24/7 network supervision. It is used for preventive maintenance as well as to speed up corrective maintenance. It detects slow fiber degradations and unexpected fiber breakages.

It is capable of monitoring several fibers and cables simultaneously, dark or lit/active fibers, and to cover small as well as large fiber networks (such as a full US country network).

The OptiMaster System comprises three main elements: Remote Test Units (RTU), Central Server and Client Units. Its operation principle is based on advanced OTDR reflectometry technology, MEMS optical switches, object-oriented software, distributed processing, relational database, TCP/IP network communication, REST based Web Services conception, advanced cryptography and commercial operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix). Since the OptiMaster avoids transmission outages and speed up corrective maintenance, it reduces loss of revenues caused by data traffic interruption.

By speeding up corrective maintenance, it allows to reduce maintenance teams and maintenance equipments, thus reducing maintenance costs. In short, the OptiMaster reflects directly in OPEX reduction and QoS improvement for carriers and utilities which owns optical fiber networks. The OptiMaster is a recent technology development, which brings several technology advances as compared to its competitors.

Its distributed system architecture delivers better performance by increasing the data processing capacity and speed while requiring less demanding processing machines. Its advanced Web Services conception allows for easy integration with third-party proprietary systems as well as accessibility from anywhere in the world.

Moreover, the system can be notified through standard SNMP traps. It is scalable and flexible, capable of monitoring from small campus-wide to big nation-wide fiber plants; works with most common Geographical Information Systems (GIS), such as Google Maps, Google Earth, MapInfo, AutoCAD Map, ArcGIS, MicroStation and etc. Submarine optical cable monitoring is another unique feature allowed only by the OptiMaster.
